On October 19, 2023, the Signing Ceremony of the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between Wellspring Hanoi International Bilingual School and Hanoi National University of Education was carried out, strengthening the cooperative relationship in various educational aspects under the ESD (Education for Sustainable Development).
The connection between a Happy School and ESD
As a member of UNESCO’s Happy Schools community, Wellspring Hanoi in particular, and Wellspring International Bilingual Schools in general, acknowledge that "Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)" plays a key role in shaping the school’s direction. ESD is the guideline for a high-quality learning environment. According to UNESCO, a Happy School should be a place where Students not only accumulate academic knowledge, but also enhance their social emotions and develop positive behavior.

The role of Teachers in ESD
One of the key features of the ESD approach is to empower Students. In other words, the role of the school in the "Happy Journey" is to create the diverse learning experiences for Students to unleash their potential. To achieve this, enhancing the overall quality of all Teachers is an essential factor.
During the event, when discussing the must-have qualities of Teachers to approach Education for Sustainable Development, PhD. Nguyen Vinh Son - General Principal of Wellspring Hanoi, emphasized: "At Wellspring, Teachers need to excel in both conveying knowledge and connecting Students mentally, inspiring them to learn and be proactive in their self-development". The two missions go hand in hand, helping WISers confidently explore their own passions and take ownership of their learning decisions. More precisely, at Wellspring Hanoi, Teachers should possess effective interpersonal skills with Students, have a deep understanding of their psychological aspects and personalities, thereby evoking aspiration in Students, rather than just a knowledge conveyor. "Students learn most effectively when they feel respected and loved by their Teachers".
On behalf of the Hanoi National University of Education, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Minh - Rector of the university, commits to providing profound training programs, organizing exchange of experiences for Wellspring Teachers, while ensuring the quality of young Teachers from the institution in the upcoming internships.

In addition to improving the quality of Teachers as a thoughtful companion, "Education for Sustainable Development" (ESD) is approached with optimizing the school curriculum and teaching methods with regard to the learning process of Students. At Wellspring, each WISer has different qualities, potentials, passions, and goals. Therefore, as a priority to bring the most practical benefits to Students, "Personalization" in teaching is the premise discussed by the two schools at this event.
This method has been applied by Wellspring Hanoi in the aspects of Career Counseling for Students, School Psychological Schemes, and Connective Events between Parents and Schools. After this event, Wellspring Hanoi will continue to promote and collaborate with Hanoi National University of Education for diverse educational initiatives to optimize the effectiveness of “Personalization”. Additionally, the two schools commit to further appropriate sub-projects to maximize learning benefits for Students.
